There is always so much to see and do in the DC area. One of the highlights (besides all of the good restaurants) was the new addition to the National Botanical Garden. Another highlight was an in-person visit with a friend whom I've known for almost 15 years through our Foodwine email list but had not met in person. They live in the suburb of Potomac, Maryland, in a lovely house with an astounding art collection.
Lunch on Saturday was at this great Bistrot - I had the best steamed mussels.
It's hard not to stop every few feet just to stare at the marvelous architecture.
This is the new outdoor garden at the Botanical Garden. The Museum of the American Indian is in the background.
And here's the Smithsonian Castle~
On Sunday, we finally get to meet Terry and David in person.
Here is Terry's dog, Lola Deary, who gives me a kiss in front of one of the art pieces in their extensive collection.
Goodbye, Washington - it was too short a visit, but we will be back next year!
