July 17th Foodstock at the Venerable Liberty Bar in San Antonio with Denny and Christian, Blake and Barbara, and Michael and Lyn

Denny and Christian visited us in San Antonio after having spent a week in Fredricksburg for the Annual American Yankee Association National Fly-in. Their plane won an award for beauty! And they braved the Texas heat wave and lived to tell the tale. Here is some of Denny's description of the food and the venue at Liberty Bar:
"We had a lovely meal and lively conversation at the Liberty Bar, a local
(and, apparently, longtime foodstock) favorite with a fascinating menu that belies the place's rickety appearance. For me, the winning item was a white gazpacho made with (Lyn, correct me here if I've forgotten
something) apples, grapes, garlic, vinegar, bread crumbs, and almonds.
Other dishes at the table included crab cakes (Mike), lentil salad (Christian and Lyn), a creamy fettucine-ish dish with the tongue-in-cheek moniker of Pasta Luego (Blake), pork sausage (Christian) and a ribeye steak with sauteed spinach and shiitake mushrooms on the side (yours truly)."

Christian, Denny, and Michael peruse the extensive Liberty Bar menu - the building leans, but the food is great.

Michael, Blake and Barbara - some us decide to try the White Gazpacho, tonight's soup special.

Lentil salad, sausages and steaks, Pasta Luego - so many choices!

As always, it felt as if we'd known each other forever - the conversation was great. Is Michael describing the fish he caught last weekend?

The waitress takes our picture after we had managed to polish off most of the food.

Another wonderful Foodstock - come back soon, Denny and Christian! There really is cooler weather in San Antonio part of the year, honest!
