A Welcome Home Foodstock Celebration

The venerable Liberty Bar, scene of many San Antonio foodstocks, was the venue for a happy celebration on Thursday, October 22. Lt. Alex Parker returned home from Iraq to her proud parents, Elliot and Emelia, and her many friends. Foodwine friends attending that night were Lyn and Michael Belisle and Blake Olson.

Dinner was good, as usual. Elliot had fettuccini, Emeila and Alex had good old American burgers with that Liberty Bar twist, Michael and Blake had the quail, and I had my favorite lentil salad. But the food was really secondary to the conversation as Alex, an Air Force Lieutenant and pediatric ICU nurse, absolutely enthralled us with the stories she told about her recent deployment. She is a dedicated and brave young woman.
