Our July Summer Vacation was spent at Cool Water Ranch near Durango, Colorado with good friends the Adamsons and the Kurtins. The setting is beautiful and the weather is amazingly cool at night - down in very near 40F. It was a wonderful respite from South Texas summer heat.

First stop on the second morning of the trip - a visit to the Santa Fe Farmers' Market

When we arrive at the ranch, both friends and horses are there to greet us

This picture was taken through the cabin window - the hummingbirds were that close

A family of chipmunks lived under our cabin, and they were grateful for the trail mix we left for them

Michael made friends with the horses by giving the carrots

This beautiful valley was almost destroyed by fire three years ago - some of the trees are now carved as sculptural tributes to the firefighters who saved the land and houses
