The last of our mountain adventures - the train ride back to Durango and, the next day,  a visit to the Chimney Rock Archaeological Ruins

The train crosses the Animas River numerous times, giving each side a view of the river gorge

Rocks and streams are up close and personal from our gondola car - we're glad to get home after the long, slow ride

The next day, it's off to Chimney Rock and the archaelogical digs

Michael peels pinon nuts while our guide talks

This is the ceremonial pit and a storage room with rock partitions

From the top of the mountain, Michael took a spectacular picture of Chimney Rock It has been a landmark for centuries.

On the way down, he found this lizard sunning itself on the rock.

We celebrated our last night and all of the fun times with an excellent dinner at Virginia's Steak House - what a fine vacation!
