Scent Shards are small handcrafted earthenware sculptures, kiln-fired for durability, yet permeable enough to absorb and diffuse fragrant essential oils. Each evocative shard face originates from an old sculpture garden or cemetery, and is carefully and respectfully captured in clay with a press mold. Once the face has been created on a thin hand-rolled clay slab, it is embellished and stamped to become a one-of-a-kind original signed and numbered sculpture.
Each Scent Shard sculpture comes with a vial of true essential oil, the “lifeblood” of the plant of origin. When essential oil is dropped on the clay surface, the scent permeates the shard, dispersing slowly and subtly. As different scents are “layered,” each shard sculpture develops a patina both visual and aromatic.
Scent Shards can be placed in a bowl with potpourri, set on a sunny windowsill, nestled at the base of a potted plant, or displayed on a desk or by a computer to bring a touch of artful scent and serenity to a workspace. Scent Shards make thoughtful, lovely gifts. Each is individually dated and numbered, and comes with information about the shard and the essential oil.
