The Carriage House, which was moved from another location and restored stone by stone, is the administrative center for the Garden and headquarters for the Botanical Society. It also houses the restaurant and the Garden Gate Gift Shop.

The Mission Statement of the San Antonio Botanical Society is ". . to foster, promote, and develop the scientific, educational, and aesthetic aspects of the San Antonio Botanical Gardens and in cooperation with the City of San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department, provide advisory and managerial expertise to develop and exploit the full potential of the San Antonio Botanical Gardens."

The upstairs meeting room is always a busy place with classes and community education programs.
