NEW!

As a result of the Foodstock article, several new members from San Antonio have joined the Foodwine list. I like Harry Cohen's idea of having a place to show listmembers' pictures, so I'm starting a members' picture page where we can put faces and names together.

Friday night at Casey's BBQ - everybody loved this place. Roger Moss said that the brisket was the best. (L to R - Chris Marksberry, Michael Belisle, Lyn Belisle, Sandra Beatie, Roger Moss and Ellen Court-Moss.) Also there, but not pictured, was Dick Marksberry . I think he was helping the cute waitress stand on the chair to take the picture.

We ate lunch at El Mirador on Saturday. Here is Julian Treviño, the owner. He welcomed us, but told me that the repice for Caldo Xochitl on my website"might" have an ingredient or two missing - he doesn't share the whole thing - hmm. But it's still good.

Roger, Ellen, and Sandra Beatie at El Mirador. Most people tried the soup and liked it a lot. It's a San Antonio tradition, and it's getting to be a Foodstock tradition in SA.

Here's Mario, our very patient waiter - he answered every question with a smile and told great jokes, so I asked if I could put his picture up on the Foodstock page.

After lunch, we walked around Alamo Plaza. This shop had a Texas wine tasting in progress - Sandra, Roger, and I (R. to L.) tried the Llano Estacado Cab Sav - good.

Remember the Alamo? Well, here are Chris, Dick, Roger, and Ellen standing in front of it right before we took a bus tour around the King William Historical District. It was hot, folks - 88F.
