A New Ocean Kayak

We took the new kayak to the beach for the first time last weekend - what a great trip. It was easy to load and take down, and also easy to launch. It was stable and safe. Not particularly fast, but certainly relaxing in Rockport's Little Bay. Thanks as usual to Carol and Bill for the help in launching the maiden voyage of The Kayak.

After a few tries, we figure out a way to keep the little craft from flipping over every time we try to load it on the Jeep.

The view from the front - not bad.

Ready to go - we are at the beach in Port Aransas

The waves are a little rough, so Bill and Mike take it out first to give it a try and test its stability

The kayak does great, but the weather does not - we sit out a rainstorm, and then go on to Little Bay in Rockport where the water is smoother.

I get my first chance to try it out - it really is fun.

It's a lot more fun if you can just ride, and not paddle, but that won't last for long! This is a great little kayak. Lots of people at the beach asked about it, and we let several people take it out for a test drive.

Mike and Bill take it out to check the crab traps right before we call it a day and go out to dinner - it was the first but not the last of the kayak trips, and it was a great success.
