The Art Educators Memorial Art Scholarship fund is in memory of two NEISD art educators who died of cancer. Kyrenda Allison and Susan Morrison both died during their high school teaching careers. Over the years, art educators and students in North East have worked together to build and maintain this fund.

The Scholarship Fund was established in 1983 in memory of Kyrenda Allison, Roosevelt High School art educator and artist who died of cancer at the age of 32.

In 2002, Susan Morrison, Lee High School art educator and artist also died of cancer. Susan's name has been added to our Memorial Art Scholarship fund.

Through donations made in memory of Kyrenda and Susan, students are able to receive financial assistance in order to pursue their education in the visual arts. A $1,000.00 Art Scholarship is presented to a high school senior who plans to continue in the Visual Arts and submits the winning portfolio. A middle school student with the winning portfolio also receives funds for art materials and supplies.
