A Ruidoso Vacation

Summer vacation 2002 had been planned for over a year - we were going with friends to Durango, Colorado and the Cool Water Ranch. But the forest fires changed all of that - we were saddened by the loss of life and land in that beautiful area. As a last minute backup plan, we found a cabin in Ruidoso, New Mexico, that was available for the first week in July. None of us had been there, so off we went on a new adventure. We loved the area and had a great time with our friends the Kurtins and the Adamsons as we hope you can see from our pictures - we will return!

The road to Ruidoso gave us a hint of what was to come - cool temperatures, huge pines, and high altitude.

Our "cabin" was a lovely two-story house with four bedrooms and two bathrooms . . .
. . .as well as a beautiful deck where we spent a lot of time talking and reading.
One of the highlights of the trip was a visit to the studio, house, and garden of Jodie Taylor, a Ruidoso painter
He and his wife Hazel, and grandsons Creighton and Gage, gave us a wonderful welcome - Jodie's work is beautiful, and he is also encouraging his grandsons to paint.
