Day Two: Building A Garden Shed

This was Major Shed Building Day - after having Easter breakfast with our family, Michael and I started putting the front wall together and realized it was more than a two-worker job. Bill Cook (r.) came to the rescue, and after he arrived on the scene, we made amazing progress on Day Two. We all decided it was an interesting way to spend Easter Sunday.

I can honestly see how barn-raisings could be fun - to build a shelter with the help of friends is pretty neat - thanks, Bill.

1. We had already put the front wall together when Bill arrived - here is the back wall, assembled and ready to lean against the fence awaiting placement.

2. It took three of us to drag the front wall around and attach it - this is beginning to look very good . .

3. . . until you walk around to the back and see that it looks like a movie set - there is a lot missing.

4. As the designated plan-reader, I finally figured out how the trusses were put together, then they were nailed in place by Bill and Michael.

5. Bill had to stay inside the shed until the first roof panels were in place because of the instability of the door section - here's Michael, finally unscrewing the doors to let Bill out.

6. Free at last, Bill does the Truss and Soffit Dance to celebrate.

7. It's a shed!! -with a strong roof that can support two hardworking carpenters. Paint and shingles come next, but this was a great day with an amazing amount of progress. Whew.
