VESTIGE:
storytelling and memory

Vestige is a series of encaustic collages that explore memory, myth, and symbolic storytelling. Each piece is a layered relic—part portrait, part talisman—inviting the viewer to uncover what remains of the sacred, the intuitive, and the forgotten. Birds, ancestral figures, runes, and celestial marks emerge through wax and texture, creating a sense of timeless presence. These visual fragments suggest messages passed down through generations, preserved like artifacts in a glowing archive. In Vestige, the past whispers through the surface, asking us to look closer and remember what we thought was lost.

Artist Statement – Vestige

My work often begins with a feeling—an image, a texture, or a fragment that seems to come from somewhere older than memory. Vestige is a series born from that impulse: the desire to preserve what feels ancient and sacred, even if I can’t name it. Through layers of encaustic wax, paper, pigment, and found imagery, I explore the echoes that surface when we let intuition lead. These pieces feel like artifacts—weathered, luminous, and symbolic. I’m drawn to birds as messengers, to faces as oracles, and to symbols as remnants of forgotten languages.

In creating Vestige, I wanted to give form to what still lingers in the margins—traces of story, spirit, and connection that invite viewers to pause and listen deeply. Each collage is a quiet invitation: What is remembered here? What is speaking beneath the surface?
